Amanda Mathson | Bay Area Lifestyle Photographer

I’m a commercial and lifestyle photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving small businesses, couples and individuals. In short, I get to meet a lot of new, interesting people while running around the Bay Area taking pretty photos. I love my job.

a little about me

I’m originally from a small town in Wyoming you probably haven’t heard of, only because it’s not exactly a destination spot – more like the kind of town you just pass through on your way to bigger, more exciting places. That said, I had an amazing childhood that was spent almost entirely outdoors and covered in dirt. After having lived in several big cities over the years and soaking up all the good, bad and the ugly of city life, I’m still very much a small-town girl at heart with a love for the country.

Now I’m growing some roots in Northern California, where we get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Tucked between California’s wine country and the wild, bustling city of San Francisco is beautifully quirky Marin County – the place I now call “home” with my husband and our two scrappy rescue mutts.

about my photography

You could say I kind of started a photography business by accident. I’ve always loved taking photos, but it didn’t turn into a profession until the need for photography kept coming up for my small business clients as a marketing consultant. Whether it was headshots, product shots, or some other kind of photography for their website or social media, the need was one that I was naturally able to fill.

What started out as a convenient skill to have has since blossomed into a greater love for visual storytelling on a number of different fronts. I now cover everything from food and product photography to lifestyle portraits and events, including engagements, small weddings and elopements.

Whatever your story might be – the story of your business, your love, your family, or simply you as an individual – I would love to help you tell it in photos. And while I’m a big fan of exploring the big, beautiful state of California, I’m always open to traveling out of state as well, especially to Oregon, Washington, Wyoming or Utah, so please feel free to ask.

I also love working with other creatives, so if you’re interested in collaborating on a styled shoot or another personal project of some kind, please reach out anytime!
